Q- What sports do you offer and to what ages and abilities?
A- La Grange Little League offers t-ball, baseball, softball and Challengers for all kids living in or attending school in La Grange. T-ball starts around 4 years old (and is co-ed); baseball is offered to kids 6-12 and softball is offered to girls 6-14. Our Challenger program is offered for those with disabilities which may prevent them from competing in our baseball and softball divisions.
For a complete description of each league, visit the “Leagues” tab off the homepage.
Q- Where do the La Grange Little League teams play?
A- LGLL plays at multiple parks across La Grange. Our flagship fields and concessions are located at Sedgwick Park.
For a map of all LGLL fields, visit the “Team Central” tab off the homepage or click here.
Q- When can I register my child for Little League?
A- Open registration for the spring season occurs in December (with an early bird discount window) and closes around March or April, depending on the division. Registration for Fall Ball opens in August. Coaches and players need to be assigned to teams early in the preseason, so it’s important to register during the open registration window.
Q- I registered my child for Little League. When will I know what team my child is on?
A- Once registration for the season closes, our league VPs work to organize teams for each league. As soon as the team is finalized, you will receive an email with access to your team on our website. Your team manager will communicate shortly after with preseason information.
Q-I would like my child to play up (or down) in a division that does not align with their birthday.
A- This is one of our most common requests during the registration process, typically due to kids wanting to play with their classmates, despite them having an older/younger birthday according to Little League International rules. If they want to play up a level in a "draft" league (A, B, C for baseball or Juniors, Majors, Minors for softball), they will need to attend Evaluation Day (typically held on Super Bowl Sunday) and essentially try out for a spot. The decision to move a player up or down will be ultimately decided by the VP of Baseball or Softball, with input from the division VPs as well as coaches. The most important factor is the safety of the player as well as others in the program. In addition, as a parent, you should discuss with your child the trade-offs. The majority of the players "playing up" will likely see less time at the positions they want to play.
In addition, for the older ages, playing outside of your Little League-assigned age group could impact selection to the District or Tournament All Star teams, given they'll be playing at a level where the All Star coaches for their age group are not present.
For non-draft divisions (e.g., Tee Ball, Coach Pitch Baseball, Peanuts Softball), we are very flexible but constraints could include existing team sizes. Either way, we will do our best to accommodate each request.
You can communicate your intent ahead of time to the [email protected].
Q-My child also plays travel baseball/softball. Can he/she also play in Little League?
A-While there are more and more travel programs popping up every year, Little League was founded in 1939 in Williamsport, PA. The Little League World Series began in 1947, and softball was added in 1974. Little League is about playing with kids in your community, and if you're lucky enough to be selected to the District All Star team, then your child has an opportunity to compete in the tournament that leads to the Little League World Series. In addition, playing in LGLL will likely give your child opportunities to play in positions that may be more competitive on their travel team. Ultimately, it depends on whether or not it fits in your family schedule.
Q- When does the season start?
A- Our spring season typically starts in mid-April (weather permitting) and ends in mid-June. The fall ball season starts early September and runs through October. More detail can be found here.
Q- What is Player Evaluation Day?
A- Player evaluation is for our draft leagues (Baseball A, B, C and Farm & Softball Juniors, Majors & Minors). To level the playing field for each team and distribute all abilities equally, each player is evaluated by our coaches and league VPs in different areas such as running, hitting, catching and fielding.
Player Evaluation Day for the 2026 season will be held on Sunday, February 8th at the LTHS South Campus Fieldhouse. Communication will be sent with your player’s time slot in the weeks leading to the event.
Q- What are the uniforms and what equipment will my child need?
A- Each player will receive a uniform with an official Chicago White Sox jersey and hat (visors for softball and caps for baseball). Each player will also receive Little League pants and socks. Each player will need to provide their own protective helmet (with face masks for softball), mitt and bat. Cleats can be used but are not required. Boys are required to wear a protective cup.

Q- What happens after Player Evaluation Day in the weeks leading up to opening weekend?
A- La Grange Little League’s Player Development team offers a wide range of activities to warm the players up in the preseason. Hitting and skills & drills clinics will be offered at both LTHS and the White Sox Academy. Your team manager will also schedule preseason practices.
Q- How will I know when our team is scheduled for practices and games?
A- As soon as the game schedule is finalized, you will receive an email notification from our website along with email reminders throughout the season. Your coach may choose to communicate via email or GameChanger.
For instructions and information on how to use GameChanger, click here.
Q- I’d like to become a coach for my child’s team, but I’m not sure where to start.
A- Our league depends on volunteer coaches to help run a successful organization, we warmly welcome you aboard! Lots of parents start out right out the gate as the team manager or as an assistant coach. We offer plenty of training in the preseason with coaching clinics hosted by Chicago White Sox and the Positive Coaching Alliance. You’ll start the season with everything you need to know to manage a team and plenty of support from the league. Indicate your interest in coaching when registering your child and our league will reach out to you to answer any questions you may have. More information can be found here.
Q- What happens after the regular season ends?
A- LGLL has lots of fun scheduled for the summer! The regular season wraps up with our draft leagues playing a tournament series. Closing weekend is always a blast with our Championship games, Home Run Derbies and Closing Ceremonies. There’s always lots of fanfare and fun all day long, we welcome all of our families to attend! Little League isn’t over yet, we also encourage our community to come out and cheer on our baseball and softball tournament and district All-Star teams.
Q- How is the Fall Ball season different from the spring season?
A- La Grange Little League Fall Ball is designed to take advantage of the last weeks of midwestern warm weather and give kids an opportunity to play more ball. Unlike the spring season, Fall Ball is open to residents outside of La Grange. The season schedule is more relaxed with one practice and one game a week, the perfect opportunity to fit in with other fall activities.
Q- How do I volunteer for LGLL?
A- La Grange Little League’s long history of success is completely dependent on our amazing volunteers. On the fields doing field maintenance or coaching, running our clinics and evaluation day, the concession stand, taking game photos- there are so many ways to help and knowledge of the game is not necessary. We welcome all parents to join our team!

Q- Where can I access additional registration forms, such as the medical release or the school enrollment form?
A-The medical release can be found here, and the school enrollment form can be found here.
